Very good and simple but problems with docking stations
Simple to setup and use. With Dell desktop there are no problems, however, the laptop will not recognise my wireless M/S mouse and keyboard unless I take it out of the docking station. Belkin support told me that most KVMs have problems with docking stations.44

Mac users beware
Using this on my Mac (G5 tower), I found that the connection would occasionally degrade to USB 1.1, making card imports painfully slow. Worse, within the last month, the unit has been unexpectedly dropping the connection for a few seconds at random, causing my keyboard and mouse to temporarily become unresponsive, and cards and connected USB devices to unexpectedly dismount. This behaviour has culminated in complete system crashes on several occasions.I have now dumped this device and will be replacing it with a USB hub and separate card reader--from a different manufacturer, naturally.

I got this device to capture old videos to the pc, and then burn to DVD. I installed ulead video studio 6, which came with it. This software is absolute rubbish (for many reasons I wont go into now). I since got ulead video studio 8, which was much better. However, I still got jerky video sometimes, and had to buy a special volume limiter from maplin, as the output from the vcr was too loud for the pc line in, despite spending hours playing with volume settings. It still locked up the pc but only occaisonally, that wasnt a major problem53

Too good to be true!
Sounds a nice idea in principle but unfortunately it doesn't deliver, at least on my system. What the blurb from Belkin doesn't tell you is that this peripheral switch makes a substantial drain on the USB power supply so there is no guarantee that your PC will have enough juice to run it properly. There are ways around this but at greater expense. It runs OK on a couple of older machines but not my newer PC's. Belkin technical support is next to useless and tried to get me to buy more Belkin hardware without offering much of an explanation of the problem. The final disadvantage with this device is that when it works it slows all your USB 2.0 devices to USB 1.0 speeds.

Even when booting the vista machine alone it will happilly sit there flicking between no signal and the vista machine. When it gets to this stage I have to disconnect and reconnect the whole unit as it will still flick between two imaginary machines when both are powered down???

The unit worked ok for a while, but now it favours one pc and auto switches to it all of the time. I don't even have long enough to log on to the other pc before it flips back again. If only you could turn the auto select feature off and switch using the button on the unit then I'd be happy but as it is its one for the bin!
