Perfectly fine printer cable

Not a lot you can write about a printer cable. Belkin are the masters of covering their packaging with claims of gold contacts and superb transfer speeds, to be honest I haven't the time or the inclination to test these claims. All I can say is, I attached it to my computer, then to the printer and printed a test page, which came off fine and I've been using it ever since.

The build quality is nice too, a good cable all round.

Propper Job!

Perfect solution for someone who has loads of stuff to plug in. Currently i have three external harddrives, a wireless TV receiver, my electric piano, my monitor and my printer all plugged in, and it works fine. Two of the sockets are 'swivelable', which is great for those plugs with upwards facing wires. Phone surge connectors: 1xInput 2xOutput. So i guess this works as a splitter too. Brill :D
It's solid too, so i think it will last a fair while :)

packaging gone berserk

I have just received my cable but can't comment on it yet as haven't plug it in. It's the box that is ridiculous - 15"x12"x7" for one small cable. Come on Amazon that is just stupid.

i bought this to hook up my XPS to my TV for a over sized moniter! and it worked like a treat, i had a few problems finding out what resolution i needed but thats not the cables fault. so yeah 5* for this product, maybe if your looking to hook up top range projectors then you might wanna opt for a more expensive (in theory should be better) cable as this one sometimes does produce shadows.

What more could you want from a cable?

This Belkin cable has a clear plastic outer sleeve over silver foil braiding, and the quality is amazing. What more could you want from a cable? Maybe, gold plated connections. But that is being very picky. The plugs on both ends of the cable are solid and well made, as is the cable length itself. Superb value. Superb quality. Superb product. Do not look elsewhere for a 6pin to 4pin Firewire cable! You won’t be disappointed!

What a Bargin!

I ventured into PC World and found the exact same as this for £25 and they supposedly had a sale on!

This is a bargin and I use it to connect a Canon Camcorder to my laptop for transferring movies over and editing etc.#

great cable

Bought this cable to connect my year old laptop to my recently purchased 1080p Samsung HDTV and I couldn't be happier with the result. Very clear image display and minimum ghosting. I'm sure it works just as well as the £35 alternatives you can buy on the high street. Great price for great little cable.

Pure dead brilliant!!

If you need a USB cable to connect any of your bits and babs to your one and only beloved computer, please, please, please be advised to purchase this little piece of Belkin magic for that purpose. Quite simply, it does what it says on the label. And it does it extremely well!! PS: If you can wangle an Amazon discount you will be mad not to take it up.

It's stupid not to have one

Surge protectors are curious things. You have no way of knowing whether they are working. My PC didn't explode today - was that thanks to Belkin, or because there were no surges? You only ever know for sure that it isn't working, not that it is.

But anyway, I have seen a PC explode during a thunder storm. I recovered, but the PC didn't. It was a few years ago, but the PC was high-spec and only 3 months old. A Belkin surge protector costs less than a pizza. Go figure.

Any decent mathmetician would now point out that we should consider:
[cost of PC] x [risk of exploding] vs [cost of surge protector]

True, but emotionless. An exploding PC is no fun at all. For a few pounds you can avoid that (I think). So do it.

Well it's a cable that connectors your printer to your PC! Arrived in less than a week and works like you'd expect. Priced at under £3.00 - that's all it's worth. I don't know how retailers that sell this cable for any more can sleep at night!

Not recommended for in-ear headphones

The cable performs well, as you expect, but the female end is too heavy for a direct connection to in-ear headphones - it slowly pulls them out of your ears!? Perhaps a cheaper, and lighter, cable would be better suited.

Really Great Product

Here before the delievery estimate, works well with my laptop to my LCD TV. Would advise if your doing the same ensure you have a headphone jack to AV OUT IN (Red and White) cable for sound, usually have then free with cameras etc.

DISASTER!

Having followed the (poor) instructions provided, my Windows XP Home Edition Desktop PC crashed. I spent half a day TRYING to repair the damage this software/hardware did to my PC; I am still waiting to see if I get any response to the irate email I've sent Belkin. My advice:"DON'T PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT OR ATTEMPT TO USE IT" (unless you have an I.T. specialist standing by). I've learnt an expensive lesson using this.
Thank God my new laptop survived the fiasco!
(9/6/08 - Despite 3 emails to Belkin, not even a single acknowledgement, let alone reply. They just don't give a damn having already got my money. I WILL NEVER purchase another Belkin product, nor recommend anyone else to do so) BELKIN SUCKS!
20/6/08: Still absolutely NOTHING from Belkin.
22/6/06: A bit coincidental... I've had an unsolicited email from Belkin Tech Support... perhaps they read these reviews? I filled in the required online email form and will wait to see what, if anything, happens next....

Try a better make !

This card wasted a day of our life and caused grief and misery before we got it working.

The card itself works well and is worth 5 stars, but the software is worth ZERO stars. Eventually we realised the card couldn't find the router simply because the Belkin software was rubbish, then things quickly improved. We simply disabled the Belkin software and set up the card using Windows XP SP2 and its now working fine.

So my advice is...choose another make unless you enjoy brain pain!

Small enough to pack it in

Bought this for my laptop. I have carried it around to plug my laptop for presentations etc. It is not too big, so fits in the laptop bag, and nice and curvy. Would have been better if it was smaller, but I think it might not be practical to fit all the components in a tiny package. I have some problems with one socket in my house as it is too close to floor level, when I plug this in, but this is not a big problem as most sockets are reasonably above floor level.
It is difficult to know whether it is doing anything at all to protect the computer. So I'll take the manufacturer's word and be safer than sorry, in case there happens to be a surge etc.
I have felt more reassured plugging my laptop in to the national grid of some countries when I've travelled recently with it's use, as sometimes dimming of lights etc, does make me anxious to plug in my laptop without any protection.
If you would use protection when you are having sex to protect your equipment, just in case, why shouldn't you use the same principle when using your beloved laptop. Having said that, I wouldn't expect your equipment to blow up in the former event as it might in the latter.

Does exactly what it says (unlike some other adaptors)

I have tried a couple of one-piece plug adaptors to adapt a PS/2 Microsoft keyboard to a USB connection.
They did not work. My PC"saw" the keyboard as a USB device but could not recognise it.
Looking at some noticeboards on internet, I think it may be possible to get them to work if I download certain drivers.

With this adaptor it really was"plug-and-play" and windows XP recognised and allowed the keyboard to operate in seconds.
I only needed to use it with a keyboard so have not tried it with mouse as well.
For my application I would have preferred a simple one-piece plug- but hey, it is more important to me that whatever I use works first time.

Don't Buy This!!!!

I set this up as it showed on the disk but it wouldn't connect to the internet. So I rang their support line, but they didn't know what as wrong and couldn't help.

I sent it back and bought a netgear router. 20 minutes later both my computer and my wife's laptop were surfing the web.

small and perfect

After getting my pc replaced by D*** because their last one died on me after only 11 months ( but thats another story) I went to plug in all my printers etc and didn't have enough usb ports. I read the two reviews offered which were very helpful and decided to put my own penny worth in.
The little port sits very nicley on the back of my desk I have no difficulties with its weight, you just have to have it far enough on the desk surface. three ports come out of the back of it and because it has its own power source it means you can charge up your mp3 player without having your pc on. Just what I was looking for.
