Review for Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router:
useless
In 2006 I bought this Belkin pre-N wireless router with the promise of great speeds. It is truly useless and I have now thrown it away and got a Netgear router. The problems with Belkin pre-N is that: 1. You can't use Skype reliably to have voice conversations. 2 You can't reliably log in to the control panel and change settings such as the security settings (it keeps telling you you are logged out) 3 It really can't handle secure network settings such as WPA, which everyone does need to have. 4 Belkin support are very quick to respond, but all they tell you to do it update the firmware and reboot it. But that doesn't fix the problems. This router is a pup and Belkin should refund everyone who has these problems.106

Review for Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless-G Router - Wireless router + 4-port switch - DSL - EN, Fast EN, 802.11b, 802.11g:
First of all was very difficult to install as the installation cd didn't work properly, so had to download the drivers at work and bring them home on USB. When I finally got it working, I'm talking days not hours, it seemed to work fine.
After the first few months, it began playing up a little bit and restarting itself, no big deal really although it is really annoying when playing a game online and suddenly you loose the connection. Then during the 5th month, in the winter by the way, I completely lost the connection to the router. I tried to re-connect but it kept saying 'limited or no connectivity', I checked all the other computers in the house and they all had the same problem. Went to check the router out and boy was it hot, I could have literally fried an egg on it and I'm not jokinh, I actually got burnt from touching it! And there was also a slight burning smell coming from the router, which isn't usually a good sign. My guess is that one of the parts got damaged. And I turned it off and left it for 24hrs.
When I came to turn it on the next day, it all seemed to work fine, for the first couple of hours. Since then it's all been going downhill. I keep loosing connection all the time, it keeps restarting, not just once a week or so I'm talking about every half an hour. It's been hard enough to get this review on here! If it's on for over 30 mins now it will stop working because it overheats, so I have to go downstairs and unplug it leave it for and hour or so to let it cool down, then plug it in again. It's really getting ridiculous now, I'm having to do it about 7 times a day now! I've tried keeping it cool by having a huge fan pointed at it and on full power during the day, that helps, but it still resets and disconnects and never turnes back on!
Today I thought enough was enough and gave up on Belkin routers and went on good old Amazon and bought a Netgear DG834PN, I spent half of today looking on loads of sites for wireless routers and doing research on them, and this is the best one for the price. Much more reliable. It has something like 280 reviews and only 25 of them are bad and the rest say it's amazing! It's better quality, the signal is much much better and it's only a little bit more price-wise but it's worth it.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. IT WILL WORK AT FIRST BUT AFTER A YEAR OR SO WILL JUST GIVE UP AND DIE!!!

Worked at first, but then...
I've only had this router for just over a year now, typical because its just a few days past its warrenty!First of all was very difficult to install as the installation cd didn't work properly, so had to download the drivers at work and bring them home on USB. Check compatibility
I bought one of these (not from Amazon) to find that they are PCI-64 cards, and wouldn't fit in my PC as the extended row of pins interfered with other board components. I have also read that if you don't put them in a PCI-64 slot, you only get Firewire 400 anyway. There is a Belkin PCI-1 card that would fit, but is much more expensive.113

Spent a good few hours trying to get this working with my Compaq desk top, nokia 6021 mobile and printer. While installation went smoothly, performance was very poor and set-up was unstable.Does the bare basics but may drive you mad trying to get it working properly.

It does actually work sometimes!
Ok, it really does have all the faults previously mentioned but I've been using it successfully to share a keyboard, screen and mouse between a PC and Mac, for the past couple of months.I think where it falls down is in terms of usability. My first Belkin Soho was bricked because of a firmware update. Credit to Belkin because they replaced it, but this time I got them to do the update at their end. You shouldn't have to do this, but since then my Belkin Soho has worked fine.
I've also managed to squeeze in two USB cables despite the power cord getting in the way - I forced in the one closest to the power cord and it works. I've had to since the specially designated keyboard usb port doesn't seem to work. I've also managed to get the cover on but, as has been mentioned, it's a tight squeeze.
Overall then, I've given this a relatively high score of three stars because, despite its faults (and they are legion), it has worked for me faultlessly and it does actually work properly if you have the right firmware installed (but you shouldn't have to get the manufacturer to install the update for you, so it loses two stars for this).
