Waste of time

If you want to be able to painlessly connect to the internet via wifi... don't bother with this adapter. It is unable to connect to essential websites such as web based e-mail systems and in any case cuts out every five minutes, resetting your network connection. I think of myself as fairly computer savvy, but I haven't got time to waste fiddling around to make it work. Usb peripherals should work right out of the box. Wifi shouldn't be this difficult.

A great Dongle for a Mac

Plugged it into the keyboard and 2 mins later was transferring photos and video clips from my phone to my Mac (OS X 10.4) with no problems whatsoever.
Exactly what I needed.
Recommended.

Great!,IF you DON`T mind the sheer hassle of repairing it each time you want to go online!

This was my 1st(of 2)BELKIN usb adapters i purchased for my 2 pc`s,Both running XP.

whilst the software DID install fine,i was initally shocked at the SHODDY manufacture of the device,it`s NOT a SNUG fit in ANY usb port,as you`d expect from a usb device,but reminded me of the Old(and i mean OLD!)Days of the ZX81 and it`s RAM pack add-on,which would wobble like mad!

Anywho,was INITALLY impressed,it found the signal,was getting 54mbps/Very good strength.great........

HOWEVER!,next time(and in fact nearly EVERYTIME since then?)when i boot Pc up from scratch?the unit appears DEAD! the green LED?LIFELESS,yet the software appears to be,at least telling it to scan!

i have had to.unplug+reconnect unit and/or get windows to run a repair file,just to connect!


tried..........well everything,replaced USELESS cradle with a gold plated! usb extension lead,went to belkins tech.support site,downloaded LATEST DRIVERS.problems persisted!uninstalled and reinstalled product.....still NO JOY!

so?Emailed Belkin,explained situ.in depth!

1st reply?we understand you are looking for drivers...etc(errrr?NO! i`m looking for results!)

gonna give it 2 stars,as i DO get a great signal,but...........?i AM replacing this product with something of a Higher std.

Compact, straightforward.

I wanted a new USB 2 hub and this fit the bill. Plugged in and worked immediately with Windows XP. For less than £6 it's a great buy. Don't hesitate if you are after a small discreet hub - what else do you want?

Great Product when paired with 125Mbps Belkin Router!

I purchased 4 of these 125Mbps Belkin Wireless-G Cards with the 125Mbps Belkin Router. The Computers are situated throughout the entire house; some with 2 walls from the router. The device works like a charm. I installed the software first; followed by the PCI card itself. I then set up my connection settings and off I went! No problems. This is a great product for people seeking a reliable Wireless network. Highly Recommended Accessory : F5D7633-4 (The Router for it)

Try a better make !

This card wasted a day of our life and caused grief and misery before we got it working.

The card itself works well and is worth 5 stars, but the software is worth ZERO stars. Eventually we realised the card couldn't find the router simply because the Belkin software was rubbish, then things quickly improved. We simply disabled the Belkin software and set up the card using Windows XP SP2 and its now working fine.

So my advice is...choose another make unless you enjoy brain pain!

it runs slow frequently

I have had my fair share or routers, but this one has given me a host of issues. Basically, a few things seem to go wrong, the security log files get filled apparently causing it to go slow. When you manually clear them out, I have found an appreciable increase in speed. Even loading the admin pages takes a while sometimes, other times it is fine. I have to restart it everyday. So, one star, since a router needs to work all the time, not just some of the time.

Almost flawless

I bought this about 10 months ago for our Virgin cable connection, and so far it has not let me down. Occasionally we are forced to reboot it, but these are very very rare. I've once left the router on for a week and the connection was interrupted. Unlike some here, the router has never exhibited heating problems. I guess I am just lucky.

It took us a couple of minutes to install and were soon browsing the web wirelessly. Even updating the firmware was a seamless process. The configurations are clearly laid out in plain English and allowed me to tinker advance settings, for example filtering out users based on MAC addresses, and opening ports for P2P usage. My PDA, Nokia smartphone, laptops (both XP and Vista) and gaming consoles (PSP, DS, Wii) were capable of connecting to it everytime.

I was told after I bought this that I would regret doing so, but 10 months later I am still a happy camper. On the other hand my wise friend who insisted on buying a Linksys router had experienced problems after problems even after exchanging it and attempting to update the firmware!

Belkin N1 Vision

Easy enough setup, everything works fine out of the box EXCEPT the display more of which later.

Firstly WIFI - Excellent range - increased the range of my previous Pre-N router twice over!.

Secondly the display - Screens 2 and 3 don't work - Having problems trying to get it to show any download or upload speeds.

Thirdly - Tech Support - Belkin have allot to answer for.

Connection drops constantly with XP. A stressful ordeal.

Having spent hours troubleshooting, I still can't find the solution.
The connection drops every 30 seconds without fail, despite having 'very good' signal strength and no interference from cordless phones.

I suspect something is wrong with the drivers, as 4 other computers in house connect flawlessly, while this utterly fails on a new install of XP (sp3).

Probably great

Like D. Nunn my connection type isn't compatible with the Belkin Router. My isp is Tiscali, the connection type is PPPoA. Before buying this router all i can say is to make sure that your connection type is compatible; otherwise like me you may spend a large amount of your time scratching your head wondering why no connection is being made and trying Belkin's relatively useless help-line.

Faultless

My internet connection had been suffering for a while. Bought this - set-up was as simple as anything I've ever seen. The router sends the signal a long way at good strength. Perfect, really.

Easy setup, reliable operation, fast connection

I have had one of these working with connection to a router for about a month now. It connects at about 270Mbps through walls and ceilings, and currently to a not very well positioned router - it is in the corner of a room, about 2.5 - 3m below the height of the adapter, and normally this can cause problems, but I have had none. Set-up was also very easy.

Belkin router easy as 123

I was worried about using one of these, but it was brilliant, straightforward. I managed to get contact first time and in no time at all.

Cracking bit of kit.

Had this for 4 days now, hooked it up to my Sky HD box, Sony dvd/hard drive dvd recorder and Sony PS3 - works brilliantly. The picture from my Sky HD box is perfect, no drop in quality what so ever, same thing from my dvd recorder which also upsclaes to 1080p, this box works great. Really easy to change the input channel and this can quite easily handel 1080p high def. Well worth the price, cracking bit of kit !!!

Belkin N! Wireless USB Adapter.

It arrived, took five minutes to set up and is working really well. Adapter is in an upstairs room, router downstairs and is working quicker than when connected with ethernet in the same room.

Very pleased and would recommend this product.

Waste of time,time,time - more TIME & money

It seems that I have had the same experience as other reviewers. Router is a nightmare to setup , performance is erratic to say the least - rebooting up to ten times before it makes a connection and it goes wrong.The power supply overheats & cuts out.I tried to give it a fair go but after five months it gave up the ghost so I have returned it.Don,t waste your money on the Belkin dongle that goes with it that is poor too !!

Nice, shame about the wireless problem

I have been awaiting Belkin to release this thing since I first saw the cable version long before Christmas.
At last I have it.
It is nice. Its smaller than I was expecting, its shiny. Looks good next to my TV.
It has 4xgigabit ports, three ariels for N1 draft wireless, and an ADSL port, so no need for seperate adsl modem.
Setup is really easy, you just plug it in to your computer via a cable, type routersetup into your browser, and away you go.
Its fasinating watching all the different displays you can get about your network, and when the wireless works, its fast if you have an N1 compatible card (connects about 300Mbps max). My Vaio connects at 54Mbps, which is its max.
It also works fine with the Nintendo Wii.

The problem I have is that after a period of time of no wireless use, such as over night, or during the day, the router will not respond to anything wireless. It requires a reboot of the router to make it work again.
This is annoying and at the moment there is no solution, or even any support pages for this router on Belkin's site.
Hopefully these problems will be fixed with an update, so if you are thinking of buying one of these and you use wireless I suggest you wait a bit for the inevitable firmware release.

Since I wrote the above I have found that turning the authentication from supporting both wpa and wpa2, to only wpa2 corrects the problem. So if you are happy to use just one authentication like I am the router works fine.

Printer Switching for the 21st Century.

Remember those bulky boxes with clunky switches from the 80's?

Well, this handy, easy to use device is the modern equivalent. I set it up in less than 5 minutes. Both my PC's can now print from the same printer... Great!

The 'virtual' switch is operated from the desktop of the PC you wish to print from.

Good enough

I use mine in the car with a 6gb hard disc player and it has survived very well. Can't say I've ever noticed any mechanism noise, or for that matter any distortion.
At the price I reckon its good value and I'd happily buy another one if and when it stops working.
The main thing is that it enables me to have a 1000 tracks in the car, and not 100 cassettes.
