Good quality case, nice looking and effective

I previously owned (and reviewed) the Proporta Book type case for the Lifedrive, however I found that the LD slipped out of the top and bottom of that case. The flip type case does not have this problem because of the fastenings.

I find that the flip type case is physically smaller than the book type, meaning that the chunky LD fits better into my bag. The case is very stylish and well made with good quality leather and stitching and feels very protective.

The only problem I have with this case is that the press stud is a little hard to close, it feels like it needs to be positioned maybe a couple of millimetres nearer to the edge. However perhaps with time the leather will stretch and make fastening the case easier.

A great buy.

All that glitters is not gold

I scouted around for a decent cover for my hx4700. This looked good and had a few good reviews on other sites. When it turned up I was a bit dissapointed by the lack of side protection. (The photo makes it look like it is set back from the edge). The top right and lower corners are exposed.
You have to slide the ipaq in from the top and there is a small plastic lug that sits into one of the rear screw holes to lock it in place.
It comes with a detachable belt clip which screws into the back. If you don’t use the clip there is a small black screw in the back which scratches any wooden surface it is on (beware).
The belt clip is useless on a wide belt (clip type) the case locks in to the clip nicely, but when you sit down in a car your body puts pressure on the release clip and when you get out the case falls on the floor leaving the belt clip behind and damaging the corner of your ipaq.
You have to keep removing the ipaq to put in the cradle and this weakens the plastic lug, which eventually snaps off.
Save your money, look around for something that affords better protection especially the sides and corners

Until now I have used a Palm Vx in a soft leather case but I thought a hard case would be a better choice for my my new Tungsten T.

The case has a more flimsy feel than I expected. It should be enough to protect from everyday collisions but there is no padding so don't drop it. Matching the colour of the Tungsten would have been a nice touch.

On the back of the Tungsten are two small square openings which engage with two lugs on the case whilst a pair of (plastic) springs at bottom of case holding things together. I find it quite easy to remove/replace the cover but wonder how long the springs will last.

With the case closed there is access to the power button, SD slot and the stylus.

The front hinges to the left only with"click stops" at 135 & 180 degrees. The 135 stop is good when holding the Palm in your left hand, with access to the"record" button using my left thumb.

Contrary to another reviewer I find it quite possible to use the Palm with the grafitti area open whilst still in the case - I pull the screen up rather than the bottom down - doing so without removing the case at the same time took a day or two to master. It is possible to close the case with the screen extended: useful whilst I get on/off the train but no good for longer periods.

The universal connector is not accessible open or closed; which I find very annoying personally.

There are two SD slots on the inside of the case front. I dislike the fact that cards can only be inserted with their contacts exposed (more likely to be touched accidentally when removing) and the label hidden (guess which card you are removing).

The case does not add much weight or bulk overall so if you have pockets that will accommodate the Tungsten then you can probably still do so.

After a week I find myself hankering for my old leather case and have begun researching options. There's at least one that retains access to the UC which is probably what I will end up with.

Not Good

Ordered this with the Tungsten T5 as a hard case vital for protection, technology gets a rough ride. However this one is terrible - once it is closed it is practically impossible to open again. It has to be prised apart with fingernails. The case also compresses the stylus insert making it very hard to withdraw. A hard case (although expensive) is a very good idea but I'd say stay clear of this one.
