Looks better than it performs

OK, it looks good in the office or lounge but that's not much good if it doesn't do 'what it says on the tin'...

Beware #1. Some legacy equipment which does not like wireless being broadcast in 802.11n (as I found with my wi-fi radio) MAY NOT WORK with this router/modem. There is NO OPTION to broadcast in just 11g or 11b+g - it's '11b+g+n' or nothing!

Beware #2. If you plan on using this router/modem to access your office VPN from home, it MAY NOT WORK! I suggest researching this carefully first.

Beware #3. In response to some simple questions, Belkin live customer support were of no help whatsoever.

Therefore, if you value functionality, compatibility and support over style, I would seriously consider looking elsewhere.

I've had this for a few weeks now and honestly i have had no faults what so ever! The only problems are the slight lag on my XBOX 360 every couple of hours. other than that a great buy!
i would reccomend this over the Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless adaptor as that i have also had that but it broke randomly and lagged quite alot.
This is great, do buy!

Unstable and poor performance

I bought this to replace a 4 year old Belkin wireless G router, hoping to increase the speed and range. Unfortunately the N1 has been a huge dissapointment.
I live in a fairly modern house and there are no strong signals to interfere with performance. I have a mixture of G and N devices on the network and it is obvious that the router can't cope. It seems to constantly switch mode and drops the conection at least every hour, usually more often. I am rebooting the router every other day (I only needed to reboot my old G router every 4 months). The range is not much better than the old G router and struggles to connect through two walls to a PC 30 feet away.
Technical support has been poor and it is obvious there is a problem as when you go onto the router settings you immediately get a Pop up message"There are no firmware updates available for this router!!" Seems like support are fed up of people asking ;?). I was also told to update to a beta verison of a firmware update that hadn't passed Belkin QA - it didn't work (refused to upload).
I have got to the stage (after trying many suggestions from support), that I am going to return the product.
Having said all that, it is obvious that some people are having no problems, so I suspect they are either on an all N network or the manufacturing quality is poor and they just got lucky.

Protection, Protection, Protection

To start, great case design. Very modern. Doesn't look as much like a laptop case than other ones which means you're less likely to get robbed when carrying your kit around. Despite its size, there are loads of hidden compartments and bigger obvious ones. Comes with a little case to put you"mp3"(it screams iPod) in. The big seller, is the amount of protection this case gives. Has a protective sleeve that you pull out and put the laptop in. Then all this goes in the case which has even more protection than the sleeve. Sealed by a zip and the velcro flap, it gives it the best protection around. Its a little fiddly to get the laptop out of the sleeve at first but you get used to it. The sleeve is better for more modern, slimmer laptops (like the Dell Inspiron 1525, the one I have). I bought this for the sole purpose of protecting my laptop. If thats what you're looking for, this is the case for you.

perfect partner for Ipod nano

Personally i dont think you can beat any of the Belkin Ipod accessories, this does exactly what its meant to & you can use the Ipod as freely as if it wasn't there. Much better than the other cheap types available.

Poor Manufacturers Item Description

So this little device is most useful, a normal ethernet cable has 8 wires within it but only 4 are used commonly for ethernet traffic. This device lets you connect to 2 ethernet devices on the end of 1 cable (you do need to buy 2 of these units tho for it to work and you will also need 2 ethernet female to female coupling blocks (Belkin Cat 5 RJ45 Inline Coupler (White) R6G050) as the economiser weirdly has a male RJ-45 plug!)

Apart from that strange quirk, great little item!

Probably one of the best...

Transmitter seems to work well enough with the FM display on the ipod a great feature. Sound qual good, not exceptional and rather low volume. Setting up is easy and it's useful that it holds and charges the ipod too. Comes with may different inserts for other gnereations of ipod, but it works great with my gen 2 nano. There's a bit of his, my only expereince of others was an awful one from Tesco which diddn't really work at all.
A good buy.

a surge protector is only as good as it's customer support

I bought this product about 4 weeks ago. It's managed to ride out a few thunderstorms since then, but in a recent storm a few days ago, the telephone protector got busted. I've had to call tech support several times since, and most recently was told that someone would get in touch with me about details such as where to send the faulty product, but I've yet to hear from them. If you try calling them, your call gets routed to a call center in India, and you get put on hold for a awful long time. After 5 or 6 calls, I'm almost entirely convinced that this call center is staffed by ONE person. The first time I called, he took down my details, gave me a case number, then gave me a local number to call. I tried this number several times, but no one ever picks up. So I call him back, and the says a supervisor will call me back. No calls. I call him again, and this time he says he'll forward my claim to the claims department, and that I should expect a email. That was a few days ago, but no email to date. I would've expected much better tech support from a company like Belkin. We'll see what happens.

No problems at all.

I was able to plug the cable into one of the sockets on my wirless router and my computer connected to the internet without a hitch (which is a nice surprise for a technology-amateur like me). Wire is tough and seems to be good value for what you pay.

Necessity

I`ve needed one of these for a while because I have an HD box and HDMI DVD player but only have 1 HDMI socket, with the soon to be released PS3 I have on order I required this switcher to stop me unplugging the 3 items everytime I want to watch or play something else. The selector is smaller than I expected and if you like you can hang it on the wall, I myself sit it on top my dvd player.I have used it with the hd box and dvd player and have found no loss of signal whatsoever the remote is basic but does the job, I use my own logitech remote so have labelled the inputs correctly instead of the 1, 2 or 3 buttons. I would of liked to give this 4 stars as after buying an expensive hd tv you then need 1 of these at around £[...] to have more inputs, but this is not the switchers fault more the tv manufacturers. Oh yes it also comes with a hdmi lead so that is a bonus.

Nice but enough?

This bag has lots of little and large pockets and there is no need for a separate laptop sleeve, as it's well protected in between the padded pocket in the main compartment of the bag. The base of the bag is padded and would withstand a hardy knock, and the canvas is very hardwearing too.
A few downsides to the bag though, once you have your laptop safely ensconced in the bag there is not much room for the charger, it does fit in there but its a tight fit, and although there are extra pockets for books etc, I couldn't get them in and I have a slim laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi 2515).The bag itself is a little weighty although this is what happens when you get such good padding I suppose.
It is a very smart laptop bag and if you dont want to carry your charger around with you then its perfect. At £23 I think its hard to beat.

Awful ghosting

I needed a longer monitor cable so ordered this one as Belkin in my experience have been good, but very disappointed with this cable. The ghosting is terrible.

Very Good quality recording, but...

Excellently picks up all kinds of sounds, even faint ones; it's as good as if you were actually in the setting of recording. But unfortunately, because of proximity of the recorder to the ipod unit, it picks up noise made by the hard drive, including clicks, which are very obvious in the background throughout the recording. It can be annoying. The user manual does acknowledge this problem and suggests the use of another microphone adapter into the belkin socket. In that case you had rather buy another good stand alone recorder with a cable away from the ipod unit. The unit itself is great, except for this drawback, which can't be ignored.
