Belkin for the Win

If you have a PS2 or a DVD player with an Optical Audio Out and a 5.1 speaker system with Dobly Surround or DTS encoding then Buy this lead! For one, you can't go wrong with a Belkin cable. But more importantly for the price this cable gives you incredible and superior sound quality than other methods. Not to mention its true Dobly Surround and DTS.

I bought this for my PS2 to connect it to my PC which has 5.1 Speakers and an optical input. Sony were so nice to put an Optical Output on the PS2, and the sound quality that you get compared to scart to your TV is amazing. E.g. Shadow of the Colossus has amazing fully orchestrated music that sounds even better via this cable. For around [...] this cable is a bargin! Buy it!

Works fine.

I replaced my wireless UBS dongle with this. Not any faster though really, but less resource hungry and also out of sight. Happy all in all especially as I got it new from one of the cheaper sellers.

Average but super low price

Nothing special but does exactly what you want it to. I use this on a home network with another PC 3 floors above me.
Shops were asking for around £40 for a cable this lengh, so was very pleased to find it for this cheap on amazon.co.uk.

Belkin surgemaster

Just received this item, does exactly as it says on the tin, was great to know that my equipment was protected, only downfall is the big rubber plug.
I wanted to take it off so i could feed the wire through the wall and reatatch it(nearest plug. unable to do so because of the non removable plug end.

But that being said the product is great and i recommend it to all

Comfy, but way too small for my purposes

This is a quality mousepad/wrist rest combination, the pad is soft but firm (oo-er) and the mousing surface is better than the standard fare. Unfortunately it was simply too small for draughting on and I found myself having to lift my mouse more often than I would have liked. I would say it is ideally suited for normal home/office use, though.

Storms

Belkin is top of the pops in the protection market, there are not many that can better them.Whithin a week of buying this surge master my neighbours' computer blew up beacause of a lighting strike. He was just plugged into the wall, no protection. My house was protected from top to bottom with surge protecters. computer,scanner & printer on one protector. Tele, dvd, video on another. This week Midi unit & my lap top on this proctor. I would not be without a proctor for any of my expensive units no matter what they are. No one should just plug their very expensive toys into the wall. Prevention is the best policy.

Belkin IR Universal Wireless Keyboard F8U1500EA

4 Stars because keys are a gnats small, but for the money its excellent. Definately recomended

Does what it says on the tin. Took seconds to install on my Ipaq hx4700. Works without stand nicely upto about 20-30cm away. The lock on prop/legs on the back of the stand is a little flimsey, but like i said works fine without a stand. The keys do feel a bit wierd but are only a fraction smaller than laptop keys. Keybd is quite big, same thickness as my IPaq but about 1cm wider all round.Central hinge doesn't seem as flimsey as people say. Alloy outer shell is quite nice too. keystroke is a gnats short. Feels like a laptop. Reconnect time is instant. plenty of function keys. Seems excellent to me so far, will see how it fairs in day to day life! (i'm using it for taking notes in lectures)

Definately worth the £27 on amazon, even the £35 elsewhere and i would say it's not worth paying double for a thinkoutside one unless you need one you can touch type on without getting used to it.

Amazing for long range

My neightbour has been sharing his WiFi with me for the last 2 years and his router is 20 meters away from my laptop with 4 walls in-between. My laptop is a centrino with a high standard centrino WiFi network adapter. But it was simply too much. I struggled to understand why it kept disconnecting from the network and getting a very irregular data flow. I found out this 'high standard' network adapter might have some problems (not listed on Intel Website but in loads of forums). But I realised all that was just bullsh*** after I took the risk to buy the Belkin Pre-N. The only problem WiFi B and G networks have is the signal stability in long-range environments. If that matters for you, believe me this pre-N is plainly a miracle. Perfectly stable 34 mBits/s in my case even made me wonder if the router had not changed place (and of course it did not).

You get what you pay for

First impressions of this cable are pretty good - it has a smart, high quality finish to it (a minor consideration, maybe, given that it'll probably be out of sight behind the TV) and appears stronger than cheaper cables, due to it being both quite thick and covered in a toughened braided PVC jacket. It looks like it could withstand a large amount of rough treatment and certainly anything that the ordinary user is likely to throw at it.

Its strength unfortunately also acts against it, as it's somewhat less flexible than I would have liked; it doesn't bend as well as some other (maybe lower quality) cables and because of this it sticks out around 17 cm from the back of the TV. Whilst this won't be a problem for people with sets that have downward-facing HDMI inputs, others may well take issue with this as their TVs would have to be placed away from the wall to compensate. The inflexibility also means that some of the cable's length is taken up in the bends; Belkin appear to have acknowledged the problem by making the cable a slightly unusual length (2.4m rather than 2m) and I think this version would be more than long enough for most users.

I can't compare either the picture or the sound quality with any other HDMI cables as I don't have any, though I have compared it with a fairly decent IXOS SCART cable I bought not long ago, running between a Philips TV and a PS3 for hi-def gaming and up-scaling standard DVDs. The difference between hi and standard definition feeds was obvious from the moment I hooked everything up, the hi-def picture being much sharper and more distinct. Colours are vibrant, blacks are solid and there's no sign of ghosting, although this may be as much to do with the TV as the cable itself. There's also no obvious cross-talk from exterior sources, which seems to show that the shielding used is more than adequate, whilst the connectors feel stable in the inputs and don't seem like they would fall out unless pulled deliberately. I would add that I haven't noticed much difference in sound quality compared with SCART, although better tuned ears than mine may well think differently; I guess in the end it depends on the overall quality of your system as much as anything else.

Admittedly this cable isn't as cheap as some you can buy but in this instance I think you get what you pay for - it not only delivers a great picture but feels like it'll last a lifetime. Whether or not it works any better than cheaper cables is, I guess, dependent on what you choose to compare it with, but you only have to look at the quality of construction to see where the extra money went. It's only real downside is its rigidity but that's a necessary evil given its tough construction and I won't mark it down for it, my only advice would be to make sure you allow for this when considering what length you need.

Protection, Protection, Protection

To start, great case design. Very modern. Doesn't look as much like a laptop case than other ones which means you're less likely to get robbed when carrying your kit around. Despite its size, there are loads of hidden compartments and bigger obvious ones. Comes with a little case to put you"mp3"(it screams iPod) in. The big seller, is the amount of protection this case gives. Has a protective sleeve that you pull out and put the laptop in. Then all this goes in the case which has even more protection than the sleeve. Sealed by a zip and the velcro flap, it gives it the best protection around. Its a little fiddly to get the laptop out of the sleeve at first but you get used to it. The sleeve is better for more modern, slimmer laptops (like the Dell Inspiron 1525, the one I have). I bought this for the sole purpose of protecting my laptop. If thats what you're looking for, this is the case for you.
